Programming Tutorials Analogy

This image captures my experience with a lot of tutorials: they don’t tell you *how* to get from A to B, and if you don’t already have a good idea of what you’re trying to achieve (because you can program and just need to learn a new language/IDE/framework) chances are you’ll fail to learn unless you can work out what you need to learn, know how *you* learn, and have the patience and skill to seek out those resources.

(origin unclear; this has been reblogged too many times to follow up. A very similar instruction has been circulating for a while – see http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/how-to-draw-an-owl – but this is a new presentation, and a different owl)
